What? You say it's not to late?
You know, "forgetting is an ongoing process."
I often wonder how many things I forget because I, at least subconsciously would rather not take care of them.
They say that practice makes perfect, but I have been practicing a long time now and I am far from perfect. So all that I can say is that I am practicing!

Dad's Hide Out!
I'm the dad of five daughters and tonight I have two boys at my house being baby sat. So what do I do? Here I am, in my bedroom watching tv and playing on the computer.
It's not as bad as it sounds, actually I'm not scared, I just like to hide out.

I was invited to a slumber party!
Last night for the first time in my life (that I can remember, "remember" being the operative word,) I was invited to a slumber party. The kids put on a movie and said they were having a slumber party and I bemoaned that I never get invited to slumber parties and my youngest daughter said she would invite me. I was all excited but the other kids just looked at me and soon I got the impression that I wasn't entirely welcome. When every body started dragging in bedding, I said that if I didn't go down and go to bed with mommy that she would feel silly... Then in a few minutes I came back into the room and asked if I just said the word silly?
Everybody gave me the "dad's weird" look followed by something to the effect that they had no clue what I meant but that it was pretty much to be expected. Silly was the furthest thing from my mind, what I meant to say was that if I didn't go down and go to bed with mommy, she would be lonely. I don't know where "silly" came from, other than maybe I was thinking the whole idea of me being invited to a slumber party was pretty silly.

Lyrics - If I Were a Rich Man Lyrics
Artist: Lyrics
Song: If I Were a Rich Man Lyrics
[TEVYE]
"Dear God, you made many, many poor people.
I realize, of course, that it's no shame to be poor.
But it's no great honor either!
So, what would have been so terrible if I had a small fortune?"
If I were a rich man,
Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum.
All day long I'd biddy biddy bum.
If I were a wealthy man.
I wouldn't have to work hard.
Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum.
If I were a biddy biddy rich,
Yidle-diddle-didle-didle man.
I see my wife, my Golde, looking like a rich man's wife
With a proper double-chin.
Supervising meals to her heart's delight.
I see her putting on airs and strutting like a peacock.
Oy, what a happy mood she's in.
Screaming at the servants, day and night.

Graci-isms - I should be writing these down...
Yesterday Graci made one of those amazing statements which I always think I should be writing down, only this time I am going to do just that.
Ami came out and repeated it to the rest of the family.
Graci:
"Jennie is my favorite sister, except for Elise... and everyone else"!

Spending time with the family...
I often wonder if other fathers spend more time with there families.
This morning (noonish) I rounded up the whole family and went to a matinée at a local theater. It was within walking distance so we walked over and back. I shed a tear when the girl in the movie died, but overall it was a pretty good movie. We then all walked back home and I soon went to a computer and spent the rest of the day working on the computer.
It seems like I spend all of my time on the computer and only a little interacting with the family.
Actually I also went along for the ride when they all went shopping. That's a bonus, should be worth as much as a movie don't you think?
